Matter Aera 5000+ Overview and Initial Thoughts

Matter Motor, an Ahmedabad-based startup, just unveiled the Matter Aera 5000+, their first product. There are two versions available: standard and +. Here’s what we thought after a day of riding the Matter Aera 5000+.

The Matter Aera 5000+ appears substantial and is the right size. The Aera 5000+ has a futuristic design with sporty-looking cuts and creases in the bodywork. Five color options are available for the Aera 5000+ from Matter: Cosmic Black, Cosmic Blue, Glacier White, Blaze Red, and Nord Grey.

The Matter Aera 5000+ is powered by a 5kWh battery and a 10kW motor. Additionally, Matter added a four-speed gearbox to the Aera 5000+.

Then, three ride modes are offered: Eco, City, and Sport.

Matter has also made available a specification sheet, auto indicator turn-off, Bluetooth connectivity, call/music control, liquid cooling, remote lock/unlock, OTA updates, push navigation, geo-fencing, ride statistics, reverse mode (park assist), keyless operation, and more features.

As an electric two-wheeler, the Aera 5000+ feels more engaging because it has a clutch and gearbox. Its operation is very straightforward: to engage the gear, simply hold down the clutch, and to advance further, slowly release it.

Oddly enough, though, even with the bike in gear, it moves on a slope. It can freely move forward or backward, but you have to apply the brakes in either direction.

The Aera 5000+’s rider triangle and the TVS Apache’s are comparable. The footpegs are rear-set, and you are comfortably seated with a slight forward posture. The riding stance is a cross between commuter and sport.

The Aera 5000+ is being offered for Rs. 1,82,299 (ex-showroom, Ahmedabad).
