We were astounded to see women working everywhere at the MG Motor India plant in Halol, Gujarat, during our recent visit. These women are involved in all aspects of the work, from the body shop workshop to the final product testing.
At the moment, women make up roughly 34% of the company’s workforce overall, including those working in the Gurgaon office and the Halol plant. MG Motor India’s Senior Director of Human Resources, Yeshwinder Patial, told us that the company wants to boost this figure by as much as 50% by the end of CY2025.
Additionally, the automaker offers a special employment program called “Drive her Back” to support women who have taken long career breaks, marital breaks, or maternity leaves and want to return to the workforce. Women with at least two years of work experience who are qualified and experienced are invited to reenter the workforce through this one-year program. After that, the business reviews the projects organizationally and, depending on performance and open positions, may add high-achieving women to its payroll.
