The model on display has some elegant cosmetic accents that really up the sporty factor.
A number of the bizarre builds that have emerged from this year’s Auto Expo have featured Toyota Glanza. There are more vehicles from the Japanese automaker, even though the Hilux Extreme Concept is undoubtedly the most extreme of the bunch.
Inspired by Toyota’s global GR lineup, which includes the Corolla GR, this modified Glanza is on display at the Expo stand. Regretfully, though, this is purely an aesthetic pleasure—it does not stimulate your other senses. “Why?” you inquire. Now, continue reading:
That is this Glanza’s motto. Since the hatchback doesn’t genuinely have a use, everything you see on it is essentially fake. Nevertheless, the parts and its two-tone black and white paint job give it a sportier appearance and more aggressive styling.
For example, a red-accented splitter has been added to the front bumper. Ascending, you’ll find slats on either side with black and red contrast accents once more, and contrasting black and red elements even on the grille insert. Whoa, we overlooked that. Although it is fake, every black element has a carbon fiber finish. Even so, it’s a tasteful addition, which is more than can be said for everything on it.
When you move to the back, you’ll understand why. Not the diffuser, please. With the rectangular exhaust sitting squarely in the centre, it’s actually one of the most tastefully integrated pieces, and the updated bumper even looks the part. Here, too, there are accents in red. The spoiler, which rests on top of the roof instead of protruding from it, may seem excessive to some.
The black alloy wheels with red callipers contrast beautifully with the white body colour, and the ORVMs also receive a carbon fibre finish. Although the interior design remains the same, the cabin has been finished in carbon fibre and has red and white stripes. Overall, it’s a nicely equipped hatchback with a sporty appearance.
We wish Toyota had introduced a larger and more potent unit, as the automaker did with the Altroz Racer, and followed Tata’s lead in this instance. This modified hatchback still has a 1.2-liter Dual Jet petrol engine with 89 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. Five-speed auto gearbox and five-speed manual transmissions are available.
