The Kawasaki Ninja 500 was revealed at Rs 5.24 lakh

The new Kawasaki Ninja 500 from Kawasaki is available in India for Rs 5.24 lakh, ex-showroom. The company’s Indian portfolio now includes the newborn Ninja in addition to the Ninja 400 and 300. It’s interesting to note that the Ninja 500 costs the same as the Ninja 400. We still don’t know if Kawasaki will keep selling the Ninja 400 alongside the new Ninja 500 or if the former will eventually be phased out.

The Ninja 500’s flagship feature is a brand-new 451cc parallel-twin engine. At 9000 rpm, it generates 45bhp, and at 6000 rpm, 42.6 Nm. A six-speed gearbox with slip and assist is mated to it.

The Ninja 500’s design, which is sleeker, sharper, and more functional, seems to be an evolution of the Ninja 400. Unfortunately, Kawasaki only offered Metallic Spark Black and the standard trim for the Ninja 500’s launch. The SE version, which is sold in international markets, would have looked quite attractive though, since it is colored like the Kawasaki Racing Team.

Instead of the SE’s colour TFT display, the standard bike has an LCD instrument cluster. All the same, Bluetooth connectivity is built in, and pairing a phone allows you to access a variety of information. A trellis frame with a mono-shock at the back and a telescopic fork at one end is located beneath the bodywork. The bike has 17-inch wheels, and its front and rear 310mm and 220mm disc brake systems handle stopping duties. The diameter of the front disc brake is greater than the Kawasaki Ninja 400’s.

Ninja 500 reservations are now open, and deliveries are scheduled to start in March. The Ninja 500 is more expensive than its primary competitors, the Yamaha R3 and the Aprilia RS457, due to its import status as a CBU.
